Cultivation tips: Plant tips 2in below surface. Robust perennials with lanced foliage and bright plumes, perfect for the border. Plant tubers 90cm (36in) apart in fertile, sandy, well-drained soil in full sun. Provide shelter from wind and adequate support. Mulch plants with fresh compost in autumn, and protect young growth with a dry mulch as it emerges.
